Transfer Deciding Students

As a transfer student, you may have had an opportunity in the past to explore majors and career options - finding some that work and others that don’t.  Transferring to UNI as a “deciding” student allows you to make a commitment to exploring and working alongside an advisor to find that right fit in an effective and personal manner.

What can I expect?

Most transfer students will decide upon a major during their first year at UNI.  During that time, students will meet individually with their advisor to determine personal characteristics that align within careers; participate in major exploration activities, including Majors in Minutes or Major Spotlight; and find meaningful ways to engage in the career connection process.

I have been a part of the ELLC for two years, and it has been a great environment for me. The ELLC has allowed me to explore my options with majors, helped me to create and become a part of the Bender Hall community, and has connected me to like-minded students in a fun way.
