Happy Fall Panthers!

If you are new to the UNI community, we hope that you are loving it as much as we do! Starting at a new school can be stressful – finding your classes, settling into a new home, and forming new relationships is something that almost every student struggles with at some point in their college career. On top of that, you may have been asked once -- or a thousand times -- “What are you majoring in?” often followed by “What do you plan to do with that major?” This can be very discouraging to students, especially when you have no clue what kind of career path you want to go down. If you have ever felt like this before, let me be the first person to tell you that IT IS OKAY to be unsure of what you want to major in. In fact, it is also okay to be unsure of the major you are currently in. Believe it or not, there are many students, from freshmen all the way to seniors, who do not know what they want to do after graduation, and again, that is okay. When it comes to deciding a major, there are so many different options out there for students to choose from, but it is up to you to take action and explore those possibilities.

Welcome to Major Decisions. This blog is here to help you explore the many different majors offered at UNI while providing you with stories and advice from current and past students. This blog will be highlighting how students chose their majors and where it has led them throughout their journey at UNI. In addition, Major Decisions will be covering topics on academics, campus resources, and much more. There is no set way to get to your dream job, but hearing from other students may help guide you on that path.

If you have questions about majors, minors, or career paths, check out the links at the end of each blog. Also do not hesitate to reach out to the Office of Academic Advising located in 102 Gilchrist or by contacting us using the information below.

Hope you are having an awesome fall semester!
