Pre-Health Advising
Pursuing a career in healthcare is exciting, and can also feel overwhelming. The Pre-Health Advising Team is here to support you along the way.
Pre-Health Advising is a resource for UNI students who are exploring, preparing, and applying to health professional programs. Coordinated through the Office of Academic Advising, we support students in all majors along their pre-health journey, providing resources and advising to help you meet your goals.
There is no pre-health “major” at UNI. Students can choose a major that interests them most, and they complete coursework for a health professions program alongside that major. We encourage students to thoughtfully choose their major, considering their interests and what will best prepare them for the future.
How Can We Help?
The Health Advising Team helps students:
- Explore health professions to determine which fields are the right fit for you
- Create academic plans with proper course sequencing that satisfy pre-health prerequisite requirements
- Understand the requirements needed to apply to a health program
- Consider alternative options if your goals change
In addition, Career Services helps students to:
- Identify locations to complete job shadowing and volunteering
- Develop personal statements and resumes
- Create connections with graduate programs and health professionals
